If your fireplace is beginning to look a little dingy and worn down, you can give it the easiest face lift you have ever seen and all without any type of construction having to be done. When you think about cleaning the masonry surfaces of a fireplace it can be very intimidating. The thought of spending hours on your hands and knees scrubbing the masonry surfaces of a fireplace is not a very inviting thought. A dramatic face lift can be simply given to a fireplace just by using Paint N Peel Fireplace Cleaner from Chimney Rx.

Once you give this product a try, you are going to wonder why you had waited so long to bring your fireplace back to life. How to Use the Paint N Peel Fireplace Cleaner - It's as easy as 1-2-3

You are going to paint it on, let it dry, and peel it off. What are you going to need to complete this project? Of course, you are going to need at least one ½ gallon tub of Paint N Peel Fireplace Cleaner, which is going to cover up to an 80 square feet area. Depending on the size of the area that you are going to clean you may need more than just a ½ gallon tub. Additional items that you will need are a drop cloth, some blue painter's tape (both items can be found on our sister site DiscountSafetyGear.com), and the included bristled paint brush for applying the fireplace cleaner.

To prep the surfaces, you will want to sweep off any excess debris with a broom and dust pan. Then use the blue painter's tape to mask off any areas that you do not want to get the fireplace cleaner on (i.e. the fireplace doors, trim, vents, and the mantel). Lastly, you should place a drop cloth onto the floor or hearth in front of the fireplace so that any drips are easily cleaned up.

Step 1: Brush Onto Masonry Surface

Before you begin to apply the Paint N Peel fireplace cleaner, you should give it a good heavy stir. Use the included bristled paint brush to start applying a 1/8 inch to a 3/16-inch layer of the fireplace cleaner to all the masonry surfaces that you wish to clean. If you prefer, you can also use a heavy nap roller (1.25 - 1.5 thick to use on brick and masonry) for applying the cleaner as well. When the fireplace cleaner is applied thicker it will allow you to peel it off with minimal tearing once it is dried.

Tip: No worries if you accidentally drip on to something that you did not want to treat with the paint N peel, it will wash off with some warm soapy water and a rag.

Step 2: Let It Dry Completely

When you are all finished painting on the Paint N Peel Fireplace Cleaner, it is time to just let it dry. The drying can take anywhere from 6-12 hours depending on how warm your home is and how much moisture is in the air of the home as well. You will know when the product is dry when it has a grey/green color and will also become almost like an elastic rubber.

Step 3: Peel it Off and See the Results

Now that the Paint N Peel fireplace cleaner is completely dried, it is time to start peeling it off. Start peeling at an edge, lifting the whole length of the edge about an inch in so that you have a good area to grab onto. This will help you peel off larger chunks at one time rather than a bunch of little pieces. There will most likely be a few small pieces that are left behind on the surface that you will have to go back and clean up.

The Paint N Peel Fireplace Cleaner when dried is pretty tough. You will need to give it a good steady pull to remove it from the porous fireplace surfaces. It can withstand a good force without ripping or shredding.

You will be amazed by the results.  The proof will be on the back of the dried cleaner as you peel it off. You may not have even realized your fireplace surfaces were that dirty, but the results will be remarkable when you look closely.
