Wood fire pits however can take more to get going and produce smoke. With wood fires there is more work but there are also additional benefits like being able to cook on it and lower fuel costs. A good option if you prefer wood fires but dislike the smoke could be a pellet fire pit, they burn very hot with minimal ash and nearly NO smoke.
