I am Melissa from NorthlineExpress and in this video I will show you how to measure your fireplace to ensure that you are choosing the correct gas log set size for your fireplace.
Your log set should be properly sized to your fireplace using front width (A), the rear width (B) and the depth (C) of your fireplace. Once you gather those measurements you will want to choose a gas log set size based on these guidelines:
The log set size you can use in your fireplace should meet the minimum dimensions.
When considering the front width of you fireplace, you will want to allow for a minimum of 2″-6″ on each side of the gas log set size that you are considering. In other words, if you are planning to use a 24″ log set, the front opening dimension of your fireplace (A) should be at least 28″.
When considering the rear width of your fireplace, it should not be less than set size that you are considering. In other words, if you are planning to use a 24″ log set, the rear dimension of your fireplace (B) should be at least 24″ wide.
When considering the depth of your fireplace you will need a minimum of 12″ to 14″ to properly fit the gas log set. For see-through fireplaces you will want to have 16’’-18’’ of depth.
