The gas log splitters require weatherization, the oil to be changed, and they run continuously wasting gas. The electric log splitter only uses electricity when it is actually splitting. The 7-ton WoodEze log splitter has two speeds. It has a 4-ton ram speed which moves faster and a 7-ton ram speed which moves a little slower but has a lot more force. The 7-ton will split logs that are really gnarly and nasty with a lot of knots in them. Depending on how far you push the lever forward will determine the speed.
